The epidemiological studies will also need to include considerations of active immunity, which makes it all that much more complicated. Like Professor Collins said in a presentation (The expanding paratuberculosis epidemic and its implications for food. http://johnes.org/presentations.shtml#), it does not seem like epidemiologists are going to be able to prove or disprove MAP as a cause of Crohn's/UC. Maybe though small analyses like Wales and Sardinia could shed a lot of light on things.
