Vitamin D is produced by the body when exposed to adequate sunlight.
However most people in Northern climates, such as Canada and the UK, are extremely deficient in Vitamin D most of the year. The suns rays are only strong enough for us to make Vitamin D for a few months in the summer, and as a result we become deficient starting in the fall until late spring.
Vitamin D supplementation resulted in a 100% cure rate of patients infected my Mycobacterium Tuberculosis. Researchers have found that Vitamin D plays a crucial part in activating an antimicrobial response to a variety of microbes.

Important findings on immunity in this one.

Does anyone else find it a coincidence that Crohn's is generally isolated to northern countries like Canada and the UK, where almost everyone is deficient in Vitamin D?
These scientists are basically saying our bodies cannot fight off Mycobacterium infections without adequate Vitamin D levels.
If you want to help get rid of your Mycobacterium Paratuberculosis infection, Vitamin D is more effective than antibiotics.
The study mentioned above used a dose of 10000 IU per day. This is a safe dose, your body makes far more on a day at the beach.
This is not isolated to just Mycobacterium Tuberculosis, it is effective against the Flu, and many other infections.
Another coincidence that Flu season is the exact season that we stop producing Vitamin D? I think not.
I've been taking 10000 IU all this winter, and wave after wave of Flu has hit the people around me, but I didn't get sick. I think these scientists have found the answer to Flu season and MAP infections.

Hi
Thanks so much for posting this information. The Vitamin D connection is quite interesting, as my late husband would have his worst crohn's flares in the spring and the fall, When it was very grey and grim outiside. I will definitely pick up some Vitamin D for my girls. Thanks again, Diane |
