So it looks like another 200,000 pounds have to be raised for the MAP vaccine bringing the total to 600,000. At the rate the money's being raised, we won't be able to start the Phase 1 trials for at least another 3-4 years. I remember some of the articles that came out a couple of years ago said the trials would be starting around 2006. Here we are 2 years later, and nowhere close to starting.
Aren't there any fundraising events being held or are they just relying on asking people to donate? It's getting really frustrating and I wonder if this vaccine will ever happen. Even if it does go to trials, we still don't know for sure if it will cure Crohn's.

Frustrating is right. Guy in my town just donated 11 million to the hospital. And a hockey player just gave 1,000,000 to a cancer research institute.
Would bringing in investors help? As it stands right now, who owns the vaccine if it is to succeed? |

I've personally donated $1500 already, and got a nice thank you letter from Prof Taylor which I framed
To put things in prospective, we need the same amount of money as a measly 50 shots of Remicade. 50 Shots of Remicade is worth $200,000.
Doesn't that make you want to be sick? If 50 of the millions with the disease would donate 1 Remicade infusion, we would be on our way to a cure.
I'm starting to think Dr. Beck's quote is correct, 85% of the people in this culture have a subconscious death wish. [ He quoted that from a world famous oncologist ].
Its a pretty simple concept...
Infection = Disease
Either people have REALLY become stupid, or they just like suffering. |
