Hi, Just dropping by.

The Prof JHT has flown to Washington this month to give a talk on Crohns & MAP, he will be back here in the UK in a few days time. Raising Awareness to his work, hopefully will Raise some much needed funds for our vaccine from the USA. The Worldwide so called " Credit Crunch " has come at a bad time for us all, and we hope that this will not put people off donating to the vaccine. We have not had any large donations for sometime, and as most really believe this so called recession started several years ago, and was just hidden by huge spending by Governments. Hopefully when the Prof JHT returns he will be bringing some good news back with him.

There is huge pressure here in the UK by drug companies bullying the PCTs ( Patient Care Trusts ) that control the hospitals, into using their drugs for all illnesses including Crohns, which brings in huge revenues for Government and the drug companies. Pressures can be applied to make life difficult for scientists that are trying to find cures, even vaccines, as these will reduce the demand for the drug company's drugs in the longterm.

As some of you may know our main fundraiser tragically died earlier this year, and we miss here greatly, not only as a good friend & colleague, but as a person who trod in the right circles of encouraging the bigger donations, which we really need. As you also may know over the 12 years I have been campaigning with the Prof, we have all raised £2 million in private funds to get us this far, the creation of the vaccine cost £650.000 over nearly 7 years. It is going to cost a lot more for the redtape & paperwork & licensing.

I have had my campaign turned into a book to try and help raise more funds. The author is a great friend & colleague - Ed Fleming ( direct family of Alexander Fleming ( Penicillin ), who has paid for all the costs to help try & raise some of the money we need, he is a fellow campaigner on lots of other issues too.

When I know a bit more I will be back to report on this.

So bye for now my friends

Take care all of you

Tim

Tim,

I remember two years ago I was reading articles that they were close to starting testing the vaccine on people.  However, at this rate, I'd be surprised if the testing begins with the next decade.  Aren't there any fundraising activities going on, or are you just asking for donations?  What happened to the petition to ask the UK government for funding?

The petition was closed on 24 September and a total of 692 Signatures were received.

As more than 200 people supported it, the UK Goverment will have to  give an answer.

I look forward to reading their reply?
